The UIA-PHG (International Union of Architects – Public Health Group) is one of the working bodies of the UIA, the Union International des Architects or International Union of Architects, a non-governmental organization founded in Lausanne (Switzerland), on 28 June 1948. The UIA-PHG was founded in 1955 and represents members of all continents from more than 60 countries, belonging to government bodies and officially recognized architectural associations involved in healthcare facilities architecture. The vision of the UIA-PHG is that Global Public Health can profit by the dedication of architects to provide efficient, safe and aesthetically appealing health care buildings; and to generate an environment that can contribute to a more rapid healing of the patients, as well as to an improvement in staff operations, satisfaction and quality of care provided. The members are contributing with scientific and professional work, reports, publications and organizational work. The activities of the UIA-PHG are determined by a lively exchange of information and mutual assistance among its members, the national sections, the national and international organizations and institutes of health and hospital care. The UIA-PHG maintains formal relations with the WHO and IHF and it is divided in two groups: the Executive Group and the Young Leaders Group.
