The Undergraduate Sports and Exercise Medicine Society (USEMS) is a non-profit society working to promote the speciality of Sports and Exercise Medicine (SEM) to all interested undergraduate medical students.We aim to:- Unify undergraduate SEM societies by acting as an over-arching undergraduate society across the UK, helping to to set up promote regional undergraduate SEM societies and their events and holding an annual undergraduate SEM conference.- Act as an educational resource by centralising all relevant and important SEM information so as to allow students the opportunity to become active within the field without having to wait until their postgraduate studies, providing resources over a variety of mediums and formats, and use our expanding contact base to offer shadowing experience in SEM.- Build lasting relationships by maintaining our strong links with the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine, the British Association of Sport & Exercise Medicine (BASEM) and the British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM), providing a platform for students across the UK to network with each other and SEM professionals and the use of our social media presence.Additional aims include:- Organise annual one day courses- Involve students with SEM blogging, research, audits, athlete screening programmes and public health initiatives- Help develop Student Selected Components and assist students in planning electives in SEM- Liase with companies and professional bodies to provide discounted rates for students at national and international SEM events.
