Underground Writers exists to support and promote emerging Australian writers. Our mission is to help new writers gain the skills and confidence necessary for them to go on to seek further publication with more widely accepted publishing groups. We also seek to promote the work of emerging Australian authors by focusing reviews on Australian debut novels. Underground's operations exist over three primary operations: Underground Zine, Underground Community, and Underground Books. Underground Zine was established in order to create opportunities for new writers to gain the skills and experience necessary to seek publication in more prominent publishing formats. Underground's online platform provides the perfect opportunity to support and promote Australian writers by providing relevant information to a community of new writers as well as promoting their debut works. Underground Books is Underground's latest venture, providing an online bookstore specialising in Australian debut novels. The bookstore provides two major functions: it allows our audience easy access to purchase the titles we promote, and it helps fund the activities undertaken by Underground Zine and Underground Community. All profits made from Underground Books goes into expanding the bookshop and funding the zine and community efforts.
