The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda and promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system. "To provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment," UNEP is committed to promote environmental sustainability by implementing 2030 Agenda's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to support countries by assuring integration of the environmental dimension in sustainable development, and to build country capacity to track progress by ensuring the health of our planet. Established in 1996, UNEP National Committee for the Republic of Korea (UNEP NATCOM Korea) has been strenuously promoting environmental sustainability to ensure the health of our planet. UNEP NATCOM Korea aims to advocate and implement UNEP's policies, guidelines, and programs by formulating the guidance to resolve domestic environmental problems, carrying out reviews and assessments on global issues, and introducing recent environmental problems.
