Founded in 2020, UNESCO International Centre for Documentary Heritage (ICDH) is a Category 2 Centre under the auspices of UNESCO with the goal of safeguarding the world's documentary heritage and realizing universal access to them through extensive digitization of the documentary heritage and partnership building. Some of the major activities of the Centre will include (1) Development and Implementation of training Programmes tailored for needs of UNESCO Member States with focus on developing countries(2) Monitoring and evaluation of the UNESCO Memory of the World (MoW) Programme (3) Post management of documentary heritage after their registration into the UNESCO heritage list (4) Standardization of criteria and technology for restoration of endangered documentary heritage (5) Provision of online platform for the world's documentary heritage with search engine, translation service and maps (6) Liaise with the International Advisory Committee to promote cooperation among UNESCO Member States for registration of documentary heritage and prevent potential conflict. The Centre works closely with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO and the National Archives of Korea and will serve as a platform to bring together global stakeholders in the field of documentary heritage.
