The UNIDO-led and the GEF-funded Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP) promotes innovation and entrepreneurship in emerging markets and developing economies to address common drivers of environmental degradation including climate change. GCIP pursues transformative systems innovation and applies a unique ecosystem approach to unleash the full potential of cleantech entrepreneurship. GCIP supports start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with innovative cleantech ideas in establishing and upscaling robust business models. At the same time, the programme strengthens entrepreneurship ecosystems and facilitates partnerships and networking between private and public actors to ensure the long-term sustainability of its interventions.GCIP experts and executing partners devise capacity-building tools, recommendations and strategies for technology innovation and entrepreneurship institutions, industry associations and business platforms. The programme enables knowledge creation and exchange to promote collaboration and synergies across ecosystems.
