Program Development - Padua, Veneto, Italy
United for Nepal is a non-profit organisation led by students of the Master's programme in Human Rights and Multi-Level Governance of the Univeristy of Padua. Since 2015, after the devastating earthquake in Nepal, every year the association organizes a fundraising campaign devoted to the promotion of social inclusion of the most vulnerable groups such as women and children in rural areas. The activities and goals of United for Nepal are in line with the UN SDGs, namely Goal 4 "Quality Education" and Goal 10 "Reduced Inequality". Thanks to the donations received, in the previous editions U4N was able to help rebuild schools, severely damaged by the earthquake, and support inhabitants (especially women) recover financially through spreading awareness about Microfinance programmes. In the last 2 years U4N invested the funds on the upgrading work of classrooms, the purchase of educational materials, and the extension of the internet connection in the Koldon Devi Secondary School, located in Timure (Sindupalchok), a rural and isolated village in the northern area of Nepal, the most affected by the earthquake. The donations are directly delivered by the students, who every year travel to Nepal during the Winter school "Microfinance in Action", funded by the Human Rights Centre Antonio Papisca, to personally meet the beneficiaries and visit the places where the funds are invested. The goals of the projects are annually reviewed and evaluated according to the changing needs. This year, the fundraising will be destined primarily to Koldon Devi Secondary School. Considering the importance that technology had for schools and universities during the pandemic, the funds raised will be used for the renewal of the school's internet connection and for the increase of the technological equipment available to children and teachers. Please check our social media:FB: United for Nepal https://www.facebook.com/unitedfornepal.padova/IG: @united_for_Nepal_Padova
