UNA Austin, a 501(c)(3) organization is a local chapter withn a 120 chapter network of the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA). We advocate for the United Nations and educate the local community about the United Nations. UNA-USA was formed in 1964 in support of the United Nations (UN) and its mission to prevent future global military conflict while simultaneously advocating for basic human rights.Our MissionTo encourage a world in which humanity is spared the scourge of war, human rights are honored, the natural environment is protected, and the United States is a constructive member of the United Nations for the well-being of all humanity.UNA Austin fulfills its mission through the following channels:•Educational initiatives aimed at teaching people about the UN and what it does•Programs that engage local youth to get them involved with UN initiatives as early as possible•Public events designed to educate, raise awareness, and encourage the community to support the UN's mission•Fundraising events designed to financially support important UN projects.As a nonprofit organization, UNA Austin is dedicated to using our unique position in the Texas Capital to reach out to national and local citizens, opinion leaders, and our government to educate, mobilize, and inspire Americans to support the principles and vital work of the United Nations, to strengthen the United Nations system, to promote constructive United States leadership in that system, and to achieve the goals of the UN Charter.We seek to build public knowledge of the UN, strengthen UN-US relations, and aid the UN in achieving its goals.
