The Wing reports directly to the Southeast Region Headquarters as part of the command structure. The geographic command jurisdiction encompasses the island of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This wing is chartered at the direction of the Civil Air Patrol.DescriptionThe Puerto Rico Wing command is further divided into six groups. These six groups are command assigned geographical areas within the island of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each group has its own headquarters and command. Group personnel are charged with the operation of Civil Air Patrol missions. This is performed by the additional subdivisions of each group in the form of squadrons. The wing has a total of 36 squadrons performing hundreds of search and rescue mission and homeland security missions per year. Additionally, over 1,000 cadets are educated and an estimated 215 aerospace classes are conducted.
