Matilde Somarriba-Chang is a professor at watershed management department in the National Agrarian University, Nicaragua. She earned a Master of Science degree in 1997 at Texas A&M University. Currently, she is finishing her PhD at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and is developing research and extension activities on ecotourism in protected areas and watershed management. She is involved in some regional and international networks such as the Latin American Network of Watershed Organizations (RELOC), the Global Water Partnership (GWP), the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) and a professional member of The International Ecotourism Society (TIES).
