Welcome to the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta! We are one of the oldest and most diverse Faculties on campus. As one of the largest research and teaching centres in western Canada, we are practically a university within a university. The Faculty of Arts houses over 20 departments and interdisciplinary programs, numerous institutes and more than 350 full-time faculty members. With approximately 6,000 students, we account for more than one-fifth of the university's total undergraduate program registrations. Within a vibrant and supportive learning environment, the University of Alberta discovers, disseminates, and applies new knowledge through teaching and learning, research and creative activity, community involvement, and partnerships. The University of Alberta gives a national and international voice to innovation in our province, taking a lead role in placing Canada at the global forefront.
