The University of Athens was founded on the 14th of April 1837. Historically, it is the first University which operated in the entire Balkan's area and the area of Eastern Mediterranean. Today, the UoA is a modern Institution with 2.200 teaching and 1.505 administrative staff members and around 110.000 undergraduate and 12.000 postgraduate students, 31 Depts., 102 Postgraduate programs, 158 Labs, 4 University Hospitals, 6 Libraries, School for foreign language to Greek students and students from abroad. There are also 2 fully renovated students' accommodations and a modern swimming pool with 2 gyms.
