ULKC is based in the University of Limerick. The aim of the Kayak Club is to introduce UL students to the many facets of kayaking. Over 400 students join the kayak club each year and of those, more than a quarter choose to continue active involvement in the club. The club is affiliated with the Irish Canoe Union and the International Canoe Federation.Our achievements:- We have won the Irish Kayak Intervarsities for the last 7 years in a row.- We go on multiple international trips each year expanding the horizons of our new paddlers and giving some fantastic experience to our older experienced members.- We help to support local and international charities with fundraising events.- We organise the annual Shannon River Clean-Up run out of the UL campus each year.- We provide safety cover at races such as the Hell of the West triathlon, Sean O'Sullivan memorial swim and the last Special Olympics.- We have multiple paddlers in the club that have represented their country in varying disciplines and categoriesWhat we do and how to join:- We have pool sessions three times per week during term, 21:45 – 22:45 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.- There are often river trips during the week – see our forums for details on when these may be arranged.- To join us, please request membership on the UL Wolves website here , and then contact one of the committee to complete the registration.
