THE UNIVERSITY SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY NETWORK Universities are increasingly expected to play a broader role than educating youth and creating knowledge. The rapidly changing environment in which universities operate requires them to contribute more to the betterment of society through the integration of social responsibility into institutional management, teaching, research, services and public activities. The notion of university social responsibility (USR) transcends the traditional mission of universities and emphasises the social relevance of higher education. The University Social Responsibility Network (USRN) was established in 2015 on the belief that universities have an obligation to work together to find solutions to address the economic, social and environmental challenges facing the world today, making the world more just, inclusive, peaceful and sustainable. The USRN brings together a group of universities from across the world committed to USR to exchange ideas, resources and practices and to collaborate on impactful projects in an endeavour to promote and elevate the global movement of USR in higher education. The USRN currently has 16 member institutions worldwide:- Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakhstan- Beijing Normal University, China- Clare Hall, University of Cambridge, UK- Kyoto University, Japan- Peking University, China- Sichuan University, China- Simon Fraser University, Canada- The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong- The University of Manchester, UK- Tufts University, USA- University of Haifa, Israel- University of New South Wales, Australia- University of Pretoria, South Africa- University of São Paulo, Brazil- Washington University in St Louis, USA- Yonsei University, Korea
