UP People-Oriented Leadership in the Interest of Community Awareness (UP POLITICA) is a non-sectarian, non-partisan, non-profit, and non-ideological academic organization for Political Science majors.UP POLITICA was founded on December 3, 1993 by 20 young and quixotic Political Science majors, who envisioned an alternative organization that would pursue Political Science as an independent discipline. The organization primarily aims to advocate the genuine study of Political Science through the appreciation of the discipline and its practical application in various fields. UP POLITICA believes in fostering a culture of discourse through fora, campaigns, and publications that deal with salient socio-political issues of the day and in becoming active instruments for social change. To further serve these principles, the organization possesses a training committee. This branch of the organization works assiduously to establish affiliations with NGOs and GOs that serve as training ground for our members who wish to explore the different professions that a Political Science graduate may pursue. More importantly, these initiatives provide avenues for the organization to contribute to society. UP POLITICA is proud of its membership in the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy Academic Circle and partnerships with World Youth Alliance, Sulong CARHRIHL, Gawad Kalinga, and Habitat for Humanity. UP POLITICA is a registered youth organization of the National Youth Commission, an accredited Junior Graft-Watch Unit of the Office of the Ombudsman, and a founding member of the Association of Political Science Organizations in the Philippines (APSOP).
