Urban-A delivers analysis, evaluations and strategies on complex urban environments. Urban-A is based on a multidisciplinary and spatial approach and delivers on a wide range of assignments, combining a comprehensive urban understanding with knowledge and experience from various fields to trigger disruptive thinking and innovative solutions.Urban-A makes use of various tools which contribute both to an overall analysis of context, trends and challenges, and go further to provide granularity in the understanding of specific needs, dynamics, and opportunities. The data and knowledge accumulated through the investigations contributes to a growing evidence-base for how we think about and work in cities. This is a valuable resource in the quest to address major urban challenges and capitalise on the potential found in cities. Urban-A seeks to provide a critical voice in the field and draw attention to important issues and potential solutions that surface through our work. We are driven by an ambition to push the boundaries by challenging and continuously improve upon the ways in which we understand and operate in urban environments.Urban-A consists of international experts within social science, economy, urban development, journalism and law, with experience from the humanitarian and development fields working for the UN and NGOs, as well as public and private sectors. Combined, our experts have experience from a number of countries in the East and Central Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, working in countries affected by conflict, natural disasters, poverty, migration and climate change. Areas of expertise include rapid urban growth, informal settlements, migration and forced displacement, urban crisis response, housing, land and property rights, socio-economic studies, as well as programme design, evaluations and coordination.
