Urban Design Skills (UDS) is a specialist planning, urban design and movement consultancy, advancing best practice through developing skills, creating strategies and appraising design. We are experienced in leading multi-disciplinary teams to develop area-led design guidance. UDS believes that the new thinking we bring to projects is needed to cut through the confusion surrounding planning, urban design and movement strategies. In addition to producing some the UK's most influential urban design guidance, our work draws on the widely used methods that we have developed to advance best practice. These include the community audit method Placecheck; the urban design skills appraisal method Capacitycheck; and the design appraisal method Qualityreviewer.
