The Urban League of Union County is a non-profit community service organization founded in 1944 and incorporated in 1952. The League with a professional staff trained in various disciplines administers service to the minority and disadvantaged populations of Union County. Our goal is to enable African Americans and other disadvantaged people to secure economic self-reliance, parity and power and civil rights. We employ the following five -point strategy in order to implement our mission: Education and Youth EmpowermentEconomic EmpowermentHealth and Quality of Life EmpowermentCivic Engagement and Leadership Empowerment and Civil Rights and Racial Justice EmpowermentPrograms operated included Housing Counseling (pre and post home purchase, budget/credit counseling, foreclosure, default and delinquency counseling), classroom training for job search, Employment counseling and referral, Teen Pregnancy Prevention counseling for 37 years, Alternative To Incarceration (Basic Skills/Vocational Training), case management/re-entry counseling for ex-offenders and Emergency Assistance for rent/mortgage, utilities and food and Youth Employment.
