Uri collaborates and communicates between traditional Filipino techniques of textile weaving with contemporary London-based, design sensibilities. Echoing the journeys and stories that reflect the global, cosmopolitan world of today. Charly Jacobs, the creative director and founder, was previously involved in the establishment of Blackhorse Lane Ateliers. As a result, conversations about the London living wage, local artisanal communities and craft educations continue to be crucial questions underpinning the brand ethos. They are conversations that carry to all localities of production and sampling: the Philippines and the United Kingdom. Ranges of hardware and leather straps will be sourced from local, London-based makers, including limited edition pieces that will be constructed by artists, sculptors, designers and collaborations with like minded brands. Uri encourages community support by setting up production and sampling through networks of local makers.
