Did you know that catheter-associated infections (CAUTIs) create a £100 million economic burden on the NHS annually? Not only that, but due to the flawed design of the presently active Foley catheters, thousands of patients lose their lives each year as a result of CAUTI related issues. This is concerning seeing as CAUTI is ranked the most prevalent hospital-associated infection in the UK. UroSense is on a mission to reinvent the current Foley catheter. The aim is to improve the striking UK catheter-associated urinary infection (CAUTI) rates, with the ultimate goal being to also see improvements in global CAUTI rates. How will we achieve this? With our team of competent and skilled individuals including medics, engineers and microbiologists, we are looking to redesign the current Foley catheter. Having lacked innovation for over 80 years, it is time that a new approach is taken on Foley catheters in order to tackle the pertinent and life-changing issue that is CAUTI.
