Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program [MCHIP] is the USAID Bureau for Global Health's flagship program focusing on maternal, neonatal and child mortality reduction and acceleration of progress towards Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5. MCHIP-India will work with MoHFW/UIP, NRHM, UP and Jharkhand State Health and Family Welfare Departments and partners, as well as in select districts, to develop and strengthen the systems required to improve routine immunization services to raise and sustain immunization coverage. This includes a technical focus on areas such as planning, supportive supervision, capacity building, linkage of services with communities, and information and monitoring systems. Also, building on program experience and lessons learned (from ACCESS, BASICS, IMMUNIZATIONbasics, POPPHI, ACCESS-FP, and Child Survival Technical Support Plus [CSTS+]), MCHIP addresses major causes of mortality, including malnutrition.
