Writing & Editing - Chicago, Illinois, United States
We curate exhibits and projects that encourage new ways of seeing the everyday world and support artwork about place, exploring and redefining how people relate to themselves and their social environment. In the 1990s, we worked with the West Town Tenants Union and other organizations in Chicago to build relationships, leadership and community between long-term and newer residents in gentrifying communities via artwork, publications and street performance. Other projects have included participation in the mental health recovery movement by facilitating arts, wellness and community organizing classes at hospitals, outpatient clinics and neighborhood libraries. Most recently, Uss Gallery hosted an art exhibit about language and perception in its former homeport at Mana Contemporary in Pilsen, Chicago.
