In 2002, the Health Promotion Unit developed the Fit for Study Program in recognition that positive student engagement in academic study requires a level of physical, psychological, emotional and social wellbeing. This Program acknowledges that a healthy functioning student can be positively influenced if the University offers an enriched and supportive learning environment. The Program represents a comprehensive and innovative suite of health and wellbeing projects.The Fit For Study Program has supported and improved learning, and facilitated the personal growth and development of the University's diverse student population through a suite of four needs-based projects:• Alcohol and Other Drugs Strategy• Mentally Healthy Campus Strategy• Sexuality, Sexual health and Relationships Education Project• Peer Education ProgramThe Health Promotion Unit's strategic goals are embedded in every FFS project:• Building health related knowledge and skills • Increasing opportunities for engagement and collaboration• Advocating for improved health and environments that support and encourage healthy lifestyle behaviours • Providing quality health promotion programs that are supported by monitoring, evaluation and research
