Uyghur NextGen Project Details
The Uyghur NextGen Project is a U.S. based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Uyghur diaspora via international development work as well as domestic advocacy and education. Domestically, we share educational resources on Uyghur history, culture, and language via events, social media, and our newsletter. The goal of such activities is multifold: to raise awareness of the CCP's persecution of the Uyghur people in Xinjiang, to promote a better understanding of Uyghur culture, and to elicit financial support for our international work. Our primary fundraising revolves around endurance events that bring together youth in support of the Uyghur diaspora. Internationally, our primary Uyghur-run development project is Palwan Community Center in Istanbul, Turkey. The center serves at-risk Uyghur teenagers, many of whose parents are detained in Chinese internment camps. Organized around boxing, a sport important to the Uyghur people, Palwan emphasizes athletic and mental discipline while providing its members English, math, and IT lessons as well as employment opportunities.
