Vagadu is an emerging art-based fashion label by Joui Turandot. Vagadu creates daring eveningwear inspired by the collages of the legendary Bohemian artist Jean Varda, the designer's grandfather. The fall gown collection "Varda's Women" is inspired by the artist's love of women in life and art. In the collages, women become cubist princesses adorned in pure finery. The line celebrates the way geometric shapes compliment the feminine form. By using a refined boldness in shade and silhouette, the gowns of "Varda's Women" aim to bring out the Queen in the women who wear them. This collection honors the act of dressing as a form of sacred play.Vagadu is the future of couture by sourcing the finest repurposed fabrics to create each dress. Each dress is hand-crafted for the highest standards of expression and quality. Collaborating with textile artist Ana Lisa Hedstrom,"Varda's Women"makes a statement by incorporating remnants of her hand-dyed silks. At Vagadu, since each dress is a piece of art, no two pieces are the same. Clients chose a gown from the collection and work with Joui to ‘recreate' the look based on the materials available. Therefore, for each piece, colors and fabrics may vary ensuring the wearer of a true unique dress tailored to their body.
