Valuation Analytix, LLC's mission is to identify and minimize appraisal fraud risk in order to provide greater transparency and mortgage valuation integrity across the entire mortgage ecosystem.A recent analysis we conducted of circa 10,000 appraisals indicated approximately 40% of mortgages in the sample were at risk of being found to be fraudulent. If an appraisal is not considered to be ‘credible' according to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), then it is considered fraudulent. With stricter regulations, high penalties (up to $9,000 per mortgage) and expensive administrative costs (i.e.: mandatory loan buy-backs) it is more important then ever to minimize the risk in both mortgage portfolios and originations.Until now, the ability to detect potentially risky appraisals was a laborious and expensive manual process. Our cloud-based flagship appraisal fraud detection platform, Damocles™, automates the appraisal fraud review process and scans them for indications of misleading or inaccurate information that might be construed by USPAP as fraudulent.
