Civic & Social Organization - Nashville, Tennessee, United States
Lambda, officially recognized by Vanderbilt University as the Vanderbilt Lambda Association, is intended to reach out to and serve the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, asexual, aromantic, and otherwise gender- or sexuality-variant (LGBTQ+) members of Vanderbilt's community. The organization strives to recognize the diversity of the Vanderbilt community by dispelling stereotypes and misconceptions while addressing issues of discrimination and inequity. It is also a goal of Lambda to encourage the support and involvement of all people in the Vanderbilt community. The organization addresses the needs of all students in the process of discovering identity, functioning as both a support group for those who are struggling with issues of identity and as a vehicle by which students can be vocal in the fight for equality. The organization is committed to involving and connecting members of the LGBTQ+ community with resources both on and outside of campus. As the University's Gender and Sexuality Alliance, the Vanderbilt Lambda Association takes great pride in being a leading promoter in the awareness of diversity among the student body. Lambda offers a space on campus for students of all backgrounds, cultures, races, beliefs, sexualities, gender identities, and gender expressions to respectfully exchange ideas and to experience the variety of belief systems Vanderbilt has to offer. Lambda cultivates intersectional dialogue among students, faculty, administration, and the greater Nashville community and seeks to provide a voice for all forms of diversity
