Vane Peacocks was established to bring a modern independent twist to the classic way of creating perfumes. 'The classic perfume houses used mainly essential oils initially and then incorporated new synthetic ingredients as they became available to produce perfumes that had lasting power, aroma change, complex smells and a consistency of fragrance,' says Vane Peacocks' owner and director, Peter Stiles. 'This type of formula allows essential oils to interact with the wearer's skin chemistry to produce an exclusive fragrance for each wearer.''This is what intrigued me about perfume. It's why I wanted to create fragrances with heart and soul that would provide passion, complexity and diversity for the wearer.'Simply by making perfumes in Australia, Vane Peacocks is challenging the norm. For us, the fact that no-one else is doing it, is an incentive, not a disincentive. Travelling new roadsThe Vane Peacocks' ethos is to take the classic traditions of perfume making in new directions. Our philosophy is to be different. To twist fragrance to emulate our current lifestyles and wants. We're here to explore the new and to help people express their individual character. The only set pre-requisite for our perfumes is that they must last. 'I do not want wearers to have to reapply a perfume every two hours,' says Peter Stiles. Each perfume name illustrates a story and the packaging reflects the story line. The fragrance brings the wearer into the tale on a personal level that provides a fascinating experience or an escape from reality. We're peacocks, but we're not vainPeacocks are all about making a dazzling show of your natural self. We support that, but we're not into being vain, that's why we're Vane Peacocks. The vane is the flat part of a feather, the part that gives colour, catches the air and enables flight – which is exactly what a great perfume should do.
