The La-Gajjar group was founded in 1935, by the Late Laljibhai Jivram Gajjar (1917 – 1972), a visionary and industrialist par excellence manufacturing a unique product known as Hand Blower – one of the first of its kind in the country. The humble beginning progressed with time and within a span of 2 decades, the plant had acquired the status of being one of the largest in India, manufacturing diverse products such as Hand Blowers, Power Blowers, Coupled and Monoblock Centrifugal pumps as well as Electric Motors and La-Gajjar products, now of the brand name VARUNA, gained acceptance and acknowledgement across the country as well as with clients abroad. In 1981, the new enterprise La-Gajjar Machineries (P) Limited brought in bore-well and open-well submersibles into the manufacturing line, but maintained the same principles of quality and precision that had been the hallmark of the La-Gajjar Group. The real differential edge actually came to the Company in 1992 when Shri Udayan Gajjar, now Managing Director, conceptualised the use of Oil-filled Submersible Motors for the 100 mm sector and introduced the first Oil-filled Submersible motor in the country. The motor was a marvel, and built indigenously without any collaborative support. By 1997 VARUNA oil filled motors became the forerunner in the 100 mm submersibles' market.Today, with core expertise of more than 75 years, VARUNA have metamorphosed into a giant in the pump industry in India – bringing forth products that are unparalleled in the Indian Pumps Industry. Its client base has crossed the Indian shores and moved on to numerous countries spanning 4 continents. La-Gajjar Machineries (P) Limited and its products of the VARUNA fame have truly created history.
