We are building indigenously developed innovative products for Aerospace applications in the field of Non-Destructive Testing, Robotics and Manufacturing. Specifically we have built working prototypes for Thermography, Cartesian Robot, Cable driven robot, Climbing robot, and Carbon Filament winding. Our products are innovative and we are working with ISRO in order to reduce imports from other countries.Currently the processes used for inspection and testing of Aerospace structures such as launch vehicles, aircraft, etc. in organizations such as ISRO, DRDO and other private companies are being carried out with imported equipment and are done manually or with low levels of automation. This process takes quite long and the different parts such as the robotic manipulator, NDT equipment , image stitching and processing algorithms etc. do not interface well with each other leading to sub optimal outcomes. Due to the fact that these are imported, these are very costly as well as not customizable for our need.We are developing next-generation Computer aided Inspection (CAI) technology, which integrates robotic system, NDT equipment and image processing software in order to provide an end to end solution for the testing of the panels. The robots include a cable driven parallel manipulator that can scan over a panel, and a climbing robot that can climb on the surface of the actual vehicle and inspect it. The NDT systems used are thermography and laser shearography which are non-contact area imaging systems. The image processing system will integrate all the images taken and stitch them onto the 3-dimensional model of the panel with defects clearly shown.
