VEF Momentum was founded under the Vancouver Enterprise Forum with the purpose of connecting, inspiring and mentoring aspiring and emerging technology entrepreneurs in Vancouver. Momentum has since designed a program that serves these purposes through three vehicles:Momentum ConnectMomentum Connect events play an important role in building a community around Vancouver's technology entrepreneur community. These events primarily serve to connect young technology entrepreneurs with the people, resources and answers they need to succeed. Events are held quarterly at central venues and focus on offering a conducive networking environment and short, but inspiring speaker sessions. In order to be successful, the content must be relevant to first-time entrepreneurs, events should be as open and accessible as possible and the environment should be conducive to networking.Momentum ChatsChats are informal discussion groups limited in access to ten or fifteen participants based on a first-come-first-serve basis. Chats seek to provide more tangible and actionable content to young entrepreneurs in a more intimate setting than a Momentum Connect event. A variety of topics from overcoming the early obstacles involved in starting a business to entrepreneurial opportunities in new industries are examples of discussions that would be led by established entrepreneurs, professionals, investors and other technology leaders.Momentum RoundtableThe premise of Momentum Roundtable is to recruit a cohort of emerging technology entrepreneurs and lead them through a program that plays an integral role in their success. Similar in form to Momentum Chats, Roundtable plays host to a single cohort of innovative entrepreneurs who attend bi-monthly sessions to dive deep into the necessary actions, strategies and goals it takes to be a successful young entrepreneur. More details on this in Summer of 2009.
