VeniSIA, "the oldest city of the future" is a corporate accelerator based in Venice and devoted to the development of business ideas and technology solutions able to face environmental challenges associated with the Sustainable Development Goals. The project by Ca' Foscari University of Venice was conceived by Carlo Bagnoli, Full Professor of Strategy Innovation at the Department of Management, and Nicola Pianon, Managing Director & Senior Partner at BCG, in partnership with Eni, Enel, Snam, with the support of Microsoft Italy and M&C Saatchi Italy and sponsored by the Region of Veneto and the City of Venice, IUAV and Venice International University, Unioncamere Veneto and Camera di Commercio di Venezia e Rovigo. VeniSIA develops innovative projects coping with the companies' sustainable development challenges through a virtuous circle of acceleration able to attract a community of innovators, interested in a unique living and working experience in Venice. VeniSIA's acceleration includes:1. established companies, which identify their main sustainable development challenges;2. sustainability researchers and start-uppers, who develop consistent solutions;3. master's students, who get internships within the corporate labs;4. additional independent smart workers, who join Venice.VeniSIA's ultimate ambition is to make Venice a successful example for the whole world in terms of human capacity to fix its mistakes. VeniSIA's ultimate ambition is not to make an accelerator in Venice but to make an accelerator out of Venice.
