Museums & Institutions - Bagnes, Valais, Switzerland
The Verbier Art Summit is an international platform for discourse in a non-transactional context. The Summit connects thought leaders to key figures in the art world to generate innovative ideas and drive social change. The Summit's annual meeting takes place in January in an inspirational environment: Verbier, Switzerland. The interdisciplinary platform was established in 2014 by a non-profit association in Verbier, Switzerland. It is independent and not tied to any commercial art world interests. The Summit has a unique set-up whereby the annual debate about critical themes is passed from one museum director to another. Its Member community consists of international art world stakeholders from different backgrounds, including artists, museum directors, curators, collectors, art historians, art critics, gallerists, and art consultants. They actively join the rotating group of speakers in the debate on important social issues. Cultural partners, international organisations and academic institutions are invited to collaborate as well. Art changes minds. The Summit believes in the power of bringing innovative thinkers together with influential art people. Together, an annual task force is created where new visions and initiatives are born that will make a positive change and build global solidarity. At the same time, the Summit educates, provokes and inspires the wider community by opening up the talks programme to the public for free, by live-broadcasting and sharing the talks on YouTube, and by producing an affordable publication through which the debate can continue.
