VFS Purdue was founded in Fall 2017 with the intention of competing in Boeing's GoFly competition. After fulfilling the project requirements for phase 1, the team decided to step away from the competition to continue design and development with the support of Purdue University and the Purdue chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Since then, the team has grown to five sub-teams with 40 total members, spanning majors including Aerospace Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Business Management. The team will begin its first build and test phase in Fall 2020. MISSION: Our mission is to design, build and test an urban aerial transportation vehicle fulfilling the need of a single-user, medium-range "last mile" transportation option. We achieve this by engaging and educating the next generation of engineers with hands-on opportunities to apply their knowledge and talents at the forefront of a booming industry.
