The Veterans Cadre is an extension of the Veterans Division of the Veterans, Immigrants, and Refuge Trauma Institute of Sacramento (VIRTIS). The Veterans Cadre is supported by a veterans, staff, and community advocates devoted to assisting veterans with their transition from the military to college and beyond. The Veterans Cadre provides psychosocial reintegration by offering camaraderie, recreational activities, assistance with education, financial aid, employment, housing, and local resources. The Veterans Cadre is for veterans of all eras:By offering social and recreation activities, and opportunities for community service, the club creates a sense of camaraderie, which encourages team work, increases self esteem, and promotes effective coping/life skills. Recreational and social activities include: BBQs, fishing, camping, softball, boot camp style obstacle course training, physical fitness club memberships, martial arts, yoga, rafting, camping, hiking, and biking.Community Service Work: Service to others is critical to our younger veterans as they attempt to reconnect with their community. This work will be led by the Veterans Cadre. For example, the Veterans Cadre could assist veterans in need of support services (gardening, carpentry, errands, etc.). Fundraising Activities: Various fundraising activities to cover partial costs of social and recreational events.
