Victoria Literacy Connection Society Details
There is a perception that there is no literacy problem in Victoria, but that is not so. Many people are impeded by low levels of literacy, which impacts their employment opportunities, involvement with the justice system, family life and engagement as a citizen. And literacy demands are increasing in our post-industrial society, not to mention the challenges that social media present for critical thinking. The VLC works with adults, inmates and young adults on their literacy goals, and also with children to help them reach and stay at grade level to give them the best chance at being literate adults.
