Education Management - Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
vida is a social enterprise transforming the futures of Victoria's young women. At vida, we believe the gender wealth gap can be overcome by educating young women on the basics of personal finance. OUR STORYvida is named in honour of 20th century Australian suffragette and social reformer, Vida Goldstein and started when two passionate Unimelb students, Angela and Caitlin, realised that not enough was being done about the gender wealth gap. So, much like Vida would, we did something about it. After claiming first prize at the finals of the University of Melbourne's Startup Pitch Competition in 2019, we embarked on a journey to kickstart every young woman's financial future. OUR SOLUTIONWe create financially capable, confident and courageous young women through delivering engaging workshops to Victorian girls high schools and tertiary institutions. We continue our mission beyond the classroom by also providing free and accessible content through our website and social media platforms. We recognise that female financial illiteracy must be tackled at its infancy, and our approach is the first of our kind nationwide. A 2018 survey by Commonwealth Bank showed us that over 85% of women under 30 reported that they didn't understand "fundamental investment and budgeting concepts". More recently, a HILDA survey demonstrated that females under 25 years of age are the least financially literate. Financial literacy is essential to a young woman's independence. It gives us the power and freedom to control our futures. Now, ask yourself this:Are you willing to stand by and watch the future face of Australia's poverty be female? If not, join us.Facebook --> https://www.facebook.com/vidamelb/Insta --> vidamelb
