The Vietnamese Student Association at the University of Michigan is a dynamic and open organization that focuses on the celebration and exposure of Vietnamese Culture through interactions between those of all backgrounds. We aim to build cross-cultural bridges, foster acceptance, and spread awareness. The organization prides itself on its diverse and unified membership and dedication to its members and the community. Our organization's mission is to raise awareness about Vietnamese culture through social, cultural, philanthropic, and professional events. Some of our previous events include our annual cultural show (virtual due to the pandemic in 2021) that involved over 100 students and raised over $2000 for charity. We also had discussions like anti-blackness in Asian American communities, social events like virtual game night, and a Big/Little program called ACE (Anh Chị Em translating to older sibling younger sibling in Vietnamese). Our events are planned with the intentions of upholding our organization's mission and goals: to celebrate or educate about Vietnamese culture and community build with each other or other student organizations within the University of Michigan and beyond. Our intentional programs strive to create a safe environment for our members to feel at home and to create their own families on campus. We want to advocate for diversity and inclusion through our organization's cultural identity.
