Vimy Foundation Details
The mission of The Vimy Foundation is to preserve and promote Canada's First World War legacy as symbolized with the victory at Vimy Ridge in April 1917, a milestone where Canada came of age and was then recognized on the world stage. The Vimy Foundation fulfills this mission through education programs, awareness-building campaigns, and legacy projects.The Foundation works to carry out its mission by spreading awareness through: - educational programs, both domestic and overseas;- distributing souvenir items such as Vimy pins and Pilgrimage medals;- promoting greater recognition of April 9th as Vimy Day; and- ongoing awareness-building campaigns about the First World War. Key Programs & Projects include:- Beaverbrook Vimy Prize- Vimy Pilgrimage Award- Vimy: Canada's Coming of Age - with Encounters with Canada- Vimy 100 in the Classroom: free educational resources for teachers- The First World War in Colour: film, travelling exhibition, book- The Visitor Education Centre at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial- The Vimy Foundation Centennial Park in France
