Retail - Norfolk, Virginia, United States
In 1966, the first retail high volume drug store opened in Norfolk named Gibson Pharmacy. After 30 years of business the anchor store Gibson's Retail Store - closed in 1996. Lloyd and Myrna Vincent purchased the 42,000 square foot building and remodeled the space into a 20,000 sq foot pharmacy and the remainder of the building was divided into 3 bays that were occupied by Community MRI and Faith Regional Health Services Physicians Clinic. Lloyd's Drug Mart began in 1996 and continued another 20 years as one of the highest volume pharmacies in the state of Nebraska. A one-stop shop, included retail and long-term pharmacy, gift shop, and liquor store. As health care evolved, so did Lloyd's - from electronic records to pharmacy robotic automation, Lloyd's was on the cutting edge of technology. After the death of Lloyd and Myrna Vincent in May 2013, the challenges to maintain the culture of the company were too big. In September of 2015 the pharmacy was sold to CVS/pharmacy and relocated down the street.
