Monica's Mercato opened on Salem Street in 1995. Trattoria di Monica opened in 1998 after its fraternal antecessor Vinoteca di Monica moved to a larger location on Richmond Street. Trattoria di Monica is located in the North End of Boston at the corner of Prince and Salem Streets on 67 Prince Street. Much to the pleasure of in-the-know fans, the storefront Trattoria di Monica is owned and operated by the Mendoza Brothers. Chef Patrick and Frank Mendoza grew up in the North End and were taught culinary skills by their mother, Monica. Trattoria di Monica is a true trattoria in every sense of the word. With a cozy 25 seats candlelight dinning room, exposed brick walls and original family artwork, it offers casual elegance, fine fresh food and a very good wine selection. And, family management that caters to its customers. Chefs Frank and Patrick Mendoza have succeeded well in creating a crowd-pleasing ht up in, merely blocks from the Trattoria. Today, with a ever-increasing following of locals, and visitors who find their way to this gem in the heart of Boston's North End, Trattoria di Monica is a local treasure.
