Virginia Lawyers for Children is dedicated to providing excellence in legal and social services to children in the court system. By improving the skills of lawyers who represent children and by cultivating partnerships between lawyers and other child welfare professionals, we seek to promote safety, permanency, and success for the children we serve. Toward that end, we have three main programs:The VLC Law Center: The Virginia Lawyers for Children Law Center is a very special type of law practice, where specially-trained attorneys for children and social workers work as a team, using evidence-based practices to get better outcomes for court-involved children and youth.The VLC Bar Association: Virginia Lawyers for Children hosts a Bar Association which is free for any Guardian ad Litem in Virginia to join. Membership includes access to an online forum where members can seek advice, mentorship, or even just moral support. The Bar Association also offers biannual CLEs on child welfare topics. The VLC Youth Center - The Youth Center, housed within the Law Center, is designed to be a haven for young people to gather. Youth from 13 to 18 can come to the Center to study, do homework, meet with their mentors, learn about college and job opportunities, or just relax.
