We live in an era where everything becomes more and more digital. Whether it be setting an appointment, paying your bills or just keeping up with the news, more and more services, which were usually done in person, are now done online. With the dramatic upsurge of social media and online gaming, distance is no longer a factor determining who we rub shoulders with every day. As an example, it's becoming increasingly frequent for teenagers to have, in their inner circle, more people they've never met than people from their neighbourhood.Every social change raises new challenges, and a lot of work still needs to be done to find efficient solutions: Internet and videogame addictions, sexting, cyberbullying, to name but a few. Moreover, those social changes bring whole new realities: rejection of TV and of phone calls, use of new communication media, etc., which makes it harder for institutions and agencies to adapt and to reach new generations.To deal with this new digital era, society needs a specialised entity in the field, who is able to face problems precisely where they happen: the Internet. This entity is the Virtual Guardians Foundation (VGF).
