Virtuous Waste is comprised of five students in the Global Business and Digital Arts program at the University of Waterloo. We want to reduce plastic waste by using seaweed to create an environmentally-friendly alternative to everyday packaging.Our team was formed in January 2019 as a school project, and half a year later, Virtuous Waste has become the early foundation for a social venture with sustainability as its key goal. In June, our team won the 2019 World Vision Social Innovation Challenge, including $25 000 to make our product a reality for residents in the Philippines. We hope to continue growing our venture to help communities around the world.
