ViSS has introduced a new, ultra-fast, scalable, video search technology, with an innovative method for characterizing (fingerprinting) video segments. The fingerprint relates to "video flow" (not pictures).The methodology enables the fast creation of the fingerprint (index) and a very compact search database:1.000 hours of video, (i.e. one daily broadcast of 40 TV stations) results to an approximate fingerprint size of 200MB. This equals to a 10.000:1 compression ratio (over the already compressed video)!The proposed platform forms a modular and compact search engine that can be hosted in a wealth of environments, ranging from cloud computing infrastructure to desktop computers, even into consumer ICs (mobile phones, set-top-boxes etc.)ViSS has developed components, APIs and proof-of-concept demonstrators to enable the evaluation and validation of the "video-on-video" search technology:The Desktop API is a DLL library for fast creation of search desktop applications for C/C++/C# developers.The available RESTful API enables fast creation of search applications over dissimilar and/or decentralized infrastructure.
