VISTEAM is a research and development group created in January 2017, at the Institute of Systems and Robotics of the University of Coimbra, under the supervision of Prof. Nuno Gonçalves, with the objective of developing new techniques based on images for the elaboration of security documents. Since its inception, the group has already worked on four major projects: TrustStamp, UniqueMark, Card3dFace and TrustFaces (the first two are finalized and the others are ongoing projects).Its initial focus comprises the creation of components that allowed the authentication of a certain object such as documents, product labels, certificates, validation stamps, etc. In this line, two techniques were developed: UniMark and GraphQode, which combined form UniQode. Currently, the focus has been on the people authentication problem, mainly via face biometrics.All the projects were developed in partnership with the Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda (Portuguese Mint and Official Printing Office). These projects have already resulted in three patents, articles, and soon some products launched by INCM will use elements created with the techniques developed by our team.
