Vital Start is a 501c3 nonprofit that certifies students from high truancy schools with CPR. The vision of Vital Start is to help students reach their dreams despite whatever life circumstances come their way. In fact, we see these students full of promise and their resilience as a key factor in reaching their full potential. Vital Start approaches high schools with truancy rates exceeding 13%. Students with high truancy often live in multi-generational homes and are less likely to pursue post-secondary education. Since 88% of cardiac arrests occur at home, these students will be equipped and empowered to save the life of their loved ones. We aim to demonstrate that there are no barriers strong enough to keep young people from achieving their dreams. Through certifications and mentorship, we will give them the vital start they need to succeed.
