Vixens Victorious is a volunteer organization committed to raising awareness and funds on behalf of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. Created by two life long friends who each experienced cancer first hand as a survivor and as a care giver. Their experiences inspired them to create a meaningful organization with our own personal touch in order to give back. Their story is shared at www.vixensvictorious.ca In August 2013, Jen Mielke heard the words from her doctor that every woman dreads to hear – "the lump in your breast is indicative of cancer." She began to notify family and friends of her diagnosis but there was one person she was afraid to tell, her life- long friend Jennifer Mulligan, who had lost her mother to pancreatic cancer a month earlier and her father who also lost his battle to cancer in 1996. As Jen Mielke was ending treatment, the two Jennifers joined forces and created Vixens Victorious. Jen Mielke was blessed to have the love and support of friends and family such as Jennifer Mulligan, and it is for this reason the Jennifers wanted to help support other people facing cancer and their loved ones by giving back to the community. Every two hours someone within the Ottawa region is diagnosed with cancer. It affects all of us in one way or another. Whether you personally have fought or are fighting a battle or have a loved one fighting, or fought the battle. The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation is the voice for cancer survivorship in Eastern Ontario. The Cancer Foundation is a leader in our community in providing local residents with increased access to person-centered care through the delivery of the Cancer Coaching health service, innovative cancer research and a world-class clinical trials program.
