Volunteers In Public Schools is a Baton Rouge, LA based non-profit that was founded in 1981. We are impacting the East Baton Rouge Public Schools through our Reading and Math Friends programs and our Partners In Education program. Our mission is to provide support for public education. Learn more about our programs below:Partners In Education: VIPS promotes community involvement in public schools by informing businesses, civic groups, and faith-based organizations of the needs of schools and the opportunities to make a difference. VIPS assists schools and community groups that seek to identify, build and sustain community partnerships. Partners use their special skills and talents to provide enriching experiences to students that they may not get in the classroom. Reading and Math Friends: Reading and Math Friends are volunteers who are recruited, screened, trained and paired with students in grades Pre-K through 3rd who are identified by their teachers as being below grade level in either reading or math. These volunteers commit to spending at least 30 minutes per week with their student working on those skills, building confidence, and providing a friendship to a student.
