VoMaSmart (Volunteer Management Social and Smart) is launching their upgrade, version 2.2, April 2019. VoMa supports Sports Events, Festivals, Non-Profit Fundraisers, Municipalities and Disasters.The original program was launched for Wine in the Woods in Columbia, Maryland in 2013 to manage 450 volunteers for a 2-day festival.In 2015, VoMa upgraded for the US Cycling World Championships in Richmond, Virginia where over 7,000 volunteers from around the world signed up online and over 3,500 registered for over 6,000 volunteer roles for a two-week event. Volunteers from around the world were contacting each other in languages in a forum, competing for sponsor prizes in an Instagram contest, and choosing and changing their own positions on the fly.Several other organizations that used the program are the Reston film Festival and the Maryland Fuel Fund 5K.VoMa talked to event directors and volunteer managers to learn their greatest challenges:• Volunteer sign-ups• Volunteer show-ups• Volunteer retention • (On average, 30% of volunteers don't show up for their commitments)• Sign waivers online to speed up registration• Reflect a volunteer portal that promotes only their brandSO, VoMa interviewed hundreds of volunteers to learn the volunteer wish list:• Sign up for their own shifts and roles• Cancel and change commitments online• Socialize with their friends online and at events• Meet new people• Help people with illness and through disastersThere are over 2 million organizations in the United States alone that manage volunteers for one through 75 events annually. VoMa wants to help as many as possible.The 2.2 upgrade has addressed all these challenges and issues and are proud and excited about the launch.
